ONE OF A KIND — Portobello Sky Bracelet
Description
ONE OF A KIND
The Portobello Sky Edition
Objects carry stories - the hands that made them, the places they have travelled and the lives they have passed through. Our lives are stories too, shaped by the people we have loved, the moments we remember and all that we carry with us.
Portobello Sky brings those stories together: a small piece of the past, carried into your life and made part of your story still unfolding.
A numbered limited edition composed around ivory and sky blue rare vintage Japanese Tensha beads, believed to date from the 1970s or earlier.
According to their original provenance, these beads were discovered on London’s Portobello Road in the early 1980s. Each porcelain disc carries an ornate, Delft-inspired floral transfer in soft, sky blue over an ivory-toned background. On some beads, tiny dragons curl quietly among the flowers—small details that reveal themselves only on closer look. As the vintage motifs vary, a dragon will not appear on every bracelet.
“Tensha” means “transfer” in Japanese—a reference to the delicate decorative image applied to each bead before it is sealed beneath a protective coating. Because each bead was individually decorated and has aged over decades, no two present in precisely the same way. These are finite, one-of-a-kind vintage beads: once the original supply is gone, they cannot be reordered, recreated or replicated.
Each vintage bead is combined by hand with tiny keshi pearls, Japanese Miyuki beads and softly luminous 14k gold-filled details in SUNSABI’s signature champagne-gold tone.
Created to honour the person who could never be replaced—or to carry the memory and story of one who can never be forgotten; a mother, sister, friend, partner or chosen simply for yourself, as a celebration of everything that makes you one of a kind.
Only 80 bracelets will be created. Each will be individually numbered and this edition will never be repeated. A small reserve of the original beads is being kept for future ONE OF A KIND pieces, including earrings.
